Cardinal
Joseph Glemp dedicated a statue of one of his countrymen, Fr. Joseph
Dabrowski, the immigrant Polish priest who founded the Orchard Lake
Schools, and whose death 100 years ago the Schools are observing.
The 1,800-pound bronze statue was commissioned through Fine Arts Sculpture
Center in Clarkston woned by Mike Petrucci, the father of three prep
alumni sons: Jeffrey (1984, who works with is father), Terry (1987)
and Michael (1989). It is located in the plaza in front of the Shrine
Chapel of Our Lade of Orchard Lake. About 1,000 people were on campus
July 13 for the dedication in the morning and the annual Marian pilgrimage
at the Grotto in the afternoon. Cardinal Glemp (foreground, below),
Bishop-elect Frank Reiss and the crowd heard Cardinal Adam Maida use
the occasion to announce a prayer theme, "Hungering with Mary
for the Bread of Life" in the Archdiocese of Detroit in August.
